PHOTO CONTESTS!

FAQ on How To Prepare for Your Next Boudoir Shoot

What should I bring to my boudoir photo session?
We suggests that you bring a few of your favorite lingerie ensembles. A sleek corset or flirty babydoll are popular choices, as well as the ever classic boyshorts, stilettos, and a knockout pushup bra.

What should I wear for my boudoir shoot?
The first thing that likely comes to mind when you think "boudoir" is sexy, risqué, and provocative: corsets, fishnet stockings, vinyl...you get the picture. However, we absolutely recommend you wear what YOU feel comfortable in - everyone's idea of what constitutes sexy is different. Also keep in mind that what a guy finds sexy may be completely different from your ideas - consider his white button-up, a sports jersey, well-worn jeans or jean shorts, or just a sharp jacket by itself. Think outside the box!

Will my photographer have any lingerie available for me to use?
Because women's bodies and sizes vary infinitely, we prefer you wear your own attire. While we provide assorted props to use during your shoot, the lingerie should be what fits you best, not one-size-fits-all.

What about hair and makeup?
Unless you know how to do camera-ready make-up on yourself, then professional make-up for your boudoir shoot is a must! Lucky for you, we offer hair and makeup services as an add-on to your package, so you'll look wonderful.

I’m not as young or as fit as I used to be, and I'm not sure how to look sexy. Will boudoir still work for me?

Posing, expression, props, creative lighting, and the right lingerie can make every woman look sexier.

How much skin will I be showing in my boudoir photo shoot?
This is totally up to you! In most cases, the more skin you show, the more your photos will make him sweat, but sometimes less is more and we want to make sure you're totally comfortable and having fun during your boudoir shoot.

Should I go tanning before my photography session?
No way! Rush tanning can make you look aged, splotchy, and detract from the dramatic effects of your photos. The camera loves you the way you are!

I don’t want my photos to end up online - will these be posted on your website or in brochures?
We NEVER use your photos in promotional materials without your explicit permission beforehand.

What if I want to come in with a friend?
If you have friends that are interested in boudoir, you should consider hosting a boudoir party with us! If you just want a friend present to help you feel more comfortable, that's fine as well. Whatever makes you feel the best on your special day!

What should I eat before the shoot?

Try to eat a light meal before the shoot. We don't want your stomach to growl while you're shooting!

Ten Tips on How to Feel Relaxed & Sexy when being Photographed

1. Focus on Having Fun
Make your goal to have fun, not to get great shots - that’s my job :) Everyone looks their best when they’re genuinely having a great time.

2. Visualize
Make it a practice to see the experience of having a great time, feeling sexy, everything going smoothly, seeing the photos and loving them. Be specific and visualize from your point of view, as if you’re in it.

3. Get Inspired
Look at movies and art for inspiration, tear pages out of magazines and begin to recognize your style and sensibility… what is sexy to you? This will help you communicate with your photographer and help guide the shoot.

4. Show Up With All You’ve Got
When I say show up, I don’t mean to just show up. Bring it. And be open. You deserve all the credit for the success, because you showed up, really stretched way outside your comfort zone and give it all you have.

5. Be Sensual
Use your five senses during the shoot: play music, have a bite of chocolate, a sip of wine, put on a favorite scent, wear a kick-ass outfit you feel great in, and think of memories that make you blush, smile, and sweat… Do everything and (well, almost) anything that gets you hot.

6. Be Silly
Any shyness tends to go right out the window after the first few minutes or so of being silly.   Just goof off and have fun! See how outrageous and silly you can be - it’s easier for the photographer to tone you down, rather than fire you up!

7. Create Movement
I often hear but I don’t know how to pose. Well that’s good, let’s not do that! Create a little action, however, so there’s energy in every shot. C’mon you all know how to flirt!

8. Remember the Context
The sheer fact that you’re in front of the camera being photographed is damn sexy… it’s powerful and vulnerable at the same time, which is an unbeatable combo - enjoy it!

9. Fake It
I’m not telling you to fake the real deal, but if you don’t feel 100% confident and sexy while on a photo shoot, FAKE it. Works every time.

10. Be Yourself
Honor who you are, in this moment. Don’t wait to lose a few pounds. (Besides, I’m a pro at retouching, and Photoshop is the best personal trainer in the world - more on that in another post!) But it’s important that you FEEL sexy, so if working out for a few weeks is going to do that, then great. But let’s not wait for all the planets to be aligned and your bangs to be the right length. The time is now. You are sexy and beautiful just as you are.

5 Great Reasons to Enter Your Baby/Toddler in a Photo Contest

You think your child is the cutest thing on the planet, but so does every other parent. While that may be your sole purpose in entering a child into a photo contest, here are 5 other reasons you should considering entering your baby or toddler into a baby photo contest.

#1 – Most baby photo contests offer prizes. Most of the time, the Grand Prize is Cash. That is the easiest money you could ever make. This would be a great way to save money for college.

#2 – If you are looking to get your child into modeling, pageants, TV or magazines, baby photo contests is a great way to start. Some baby photo contests even send your baby photo entries to modeling agencies if they like what they see. This is great exposure for your child.

#3 – It’s a fun and exciting thing to do for you baby. Imagine your child’s surprise when they know how much you thought of them that you entered them into a baby photo contest.

#4 – You have tons of baby photos. Do something different with them. Scrapbooks and photo albums are wonderful, but entering your baby into a baby photo contest is exciting!

#5 – Satisfaction of winning! You know your baby is a cutie pie. Winning would be proof! Some baby photo contests even offer prizes to all children whether they place in the top 3 or not.

Some baby photo contests are free to enter and others you may need to pay for. I have found that those with fees offer the better prizes and have less competition for your baby and toddler. Be savvy in choosing the baby photo contest you enter. The less popular the site and contest, the less competition you will have. There are also some baby photo contests that offer online voting. With those contests, you have more control of your child's chances at winning.

Remember that baby photo contest are a form of entertainment that can benefit your child, however you must not take them too seriously. Otherwise you miss out on the fun of the whole experience. Good Luck in finding a great baby photo contest.

Make Your Wedding Favors for Cheap!

The question most brides-to-be or couples getting married have is “How do I make wedding favors for cheap?” Before I begin to answer this question, I want to establish one thing. When using the word cheap, it doesn’t mean that you’re not giving it all you have. You’ve already spent a lot of money to make this day perfect. Therefore, here are some cheap or inexpensive ways to make wedding favors. Save yourself a little money, you could even use it on the honeymoon!!

Here are some really cool ideas to save money and get two things done at once:

• Flower Arrangements

Make a small flower arrangement for each table setting. This can serve as both a favor for your guest and decorations for the table. You can normally find little glass containers at Wal-Mart or the Dollar Store for pretty cheap. Add some of your favorite flower(s) or a flower of your favorite color. You can even make it seasonal depending on when your wedding is. Have fun! Be creative!

• Candles

I know, everybody suggests candles for wedding favors. But find your favorite shape or scent and give each of your guests a small candle. This will make it personal for your guest. It will tell your guest you wanted them there and make them feel special. Use tulle and/or ribbon to make it more festive!

• Small Frames – One of my favorites!

You can find small frames and make them place card holders. Each of your guest will have a frame to take home with them. If you don’t want to assign seating, put a special message or quote in each frame. Your guest will have a special way of remembering you!

• Wine Glass Markers

Make wine glass markers with some wire and beads. Then find a small box and wrap ribbon around it. You need one for each guest. It will also be helpful to keep each other’s wine glasses separate!

• Personalized CD of you and your fiance's favorite songs!

You can buy CD’s at Office Depot, Staples, Wal-Mart, etc… for cheap. Then decide on 10 or so songs to put on there. Burn them to the CD; attach a label or write on each one. You can buy “print-on” labels wherever you buy the CD’s. Then give each guest one! It’s a cool personal gift.

You can pull off your big day and save some money. Don’t make it look cheap either. Make and create your wedding favors for cheap!! You can do it!! Remember to have fun and be creative!!!

10 Ways to Prepare for Your Glamour/Boudoir Shoot

Let’s face it, most people do not enjoy having their photos taken. So you can only imagine how that discomfort must increase ten-fold when they decide to do a glamour or even boudoir shoot … in their underwear.
Never fear, I am here to give you a few simple tips on preparing for your boudoir shoot. And they do not include starving yourself or working out like a mad woman. I’ve said it before and I will say it again, curvy looks best in this type of photography (and in real life in my opinion!)

1. Do not apply fake tanner. I know this is hard, especially if you are totally white like I am. But really, the camera is only going to enhance that un-natural orange glow you have and you will end up looking weird.

2. Do apply lotion. LOTS of lotion, or oil. By keeping your skin super moisturized, you will create a natural looking glow that will come across in your photos as ethereal and heavenly.

3. Wear false eyelashes. I really can’t stress this one enough. When I did my first shoot, all of the girls opted to wear false lashes. They make look somewhat fake in real life and you may feel weird wearing them. However, in the photos they make a HUGE difference. You actually don’t really notice them in the pictures, but you will notice their effect. They accentuate your eyes and give them a gorgeous almond shape. These are a must-have!

4. Treat yourself to some pretty lingerie. You will probably never do anything like this again (although some people make it a yearly practice!) so really make an event out of it. Treat yourself to some beautiful lingerie. Not only will this make your photos more interesting, it will boost your confidence, making you look your best. Be sure to try the lingerie on beforehand, and maybe bring a friend with you to the dressing room that will be totally honest. Something may look gorgeous on the hanger, but not be the most flattering for your body. The opposite is also true. Something may not look like much on the hanger, but if it plays up your body’s best features, it will look stunning. Choose a lingerie store where you will receive personal attention and helpful advice from experts who will help you choose the right look for you and proper fit.

5. If you’re worried about your mid-section, watch what you eat and drink. Now, I certainly don’t mean go on a diet for your shoot! However, there are certain foods and drinks that can cause bloating so try to avoid those for a day or two before your shoot. But please, eat!

I think that every woman should have a glamour or boudoir shoot at least once in their lifetime. Having gorgeous images of yourself is SO empowering and amazing for your self esteem. Confidence is sexy at any size!
6. Get a manicure and pedicure, or at least do one yourself. People tend to forget about their nails, but they do show up in a majority of your photos. Chipped nail polish is not pretty. Also, try to choose a neutral nail color so they don’t distract from your gorgeous face.

7. Look at this as a once-in-a-lifetime investment. As I said, most of you will never do anything like this again so the photos you receive from it will be a keepsake that should last forever. How fun will it be to show your granddaughter (when she’s older of course!) how beautiful you looked and what a nice gift you gave to your husband!

8. Don’t be nervous. I promise you, you will look FABULOUS. Your insecurities will melt as you get in front of the camera. This is your time to feel sexy so you need to relax and have fun! Nervousness and lack of self-confidence will show up on your photos. Just remind yourself that no matter how you THINK you look, you will look amazing in the end. We will highlight your favorite body parts and downplay your least favorite ones. You.will.look.hot!

9. Do this for yourself. No matter who you are doing this boudoir shoot for, deep down it is really for YOU. The end result (photographs) may be going to someone else, but the experience itself is ALL yours. It is just me and you in the room during the shoot and I want you to be comfortable, have fun and WORK IT!

10. Do push yourself to go a little bit outside of your comfort zone during the shoot. Some girls think they will stay totally covered up during the entire shoot. Of course, you can if you want. But many girls, once they are in the swing of it and having fun, decide to get a little risqué. I am not talking about totally nude or anything, but maybe a hint of nudity. I am all about making your photos tasteful and classy, but also creating something that you (and your husband) will LOVE. Some of the best shots come when you let down your guard a little.

And remember, I NEVER post your photos without your permission.

I hope that helps you get a better idea of how to prepare yourself for your photo shoot. I’ve never met a lady who said, “Gee, I wish I didn’t get gorgeous, sexy photos of myself taken!” So treat yourself to a confidence boosting shoot today that you will cherish for the rest of your life!

How to Pose like a Model

Looking like a model is one thing, but models don't get paid to just sit there and look pretty. Their success in the business comes down to how well they can pose and give the photographer interesting and marketable shots. Whether you want to enhance your career as a model or just be more photogenic, the following tips will help add new dimensions to your shots.

 1. Slouch a little. There are a few times when you'll need to throw your shoulders back for a shot, but generally, a little slouch makes your pose look natural and relaxed. That doesn't mean you should hunch over (although this will work with some high fashion shots). If you're standing, put uneven weight on your feet, and the leg with less weight will naturally bend a little. You'll look more comfortable and your posture will appear more natural. Don't slouch so much, though, that it makes your stomach look bigger.

2. Be asymmetrical. For a more interesting shot, make sure that you're doing something different with each side of your body. You can be dramatic and do something totally different with each of your limbs and tilt your head to the side, but you might look like a puppet. Being asymmetrical can be as simple as dipping one shoulder or hip, making sure that your arms are at different heights, and bending one leg a little (or a lot) more than the other.

3. Point your nose away from the camera. Looking at the camera straight on can work in some dramatic shots, but generally it's better to put your face at an angle, and look at the camera from that angle. Tilt your nose a little up or down, a little left or right, but keep your gaze on that camera.

  • Learn which angles flatter your face the most. Do you have a great jawline? Tilt your head up and to the side a little. Experiment in front of a mirror or with your own camera to see which angles make the most interesting shots on your face.
  • Know which direction the light is coming from. Remember that light will cast shadows, and even if they are slight, they will affect the appearance of your face. If light is coming from the top, tilting your nose down may cause your brow bone to cast a shadow over your eyes, which is good if you're going for a sinister shot, but not good if you're trying to look friendly.

4. Practice. Get a digital camera, set up a tripod, and take thousands of shots. Since viewing the shots on your computer screen costs nothing, there's really no excuse not to practice. You should know which poses work for you, and which don't. Learn which poses flatter which parts of your body. Become familiar with which poses work with various types of clothing; some poses emphasize the clean lines of a power suit, some poses emphasize the flow of a gown. Practice with props like a chair, or holding objects (a vase, a rope, a beach ball, whatever - be creative!).

5. Listen to your photographer. A good photographer will offer feedback and frankly, tell you what to do so they can get the shot they want. Be cooperative and gracious (and graceful!). Don't allow yourself to get nervous, or else you will tense up and look stiff. Relax into each pose and connect with the camera.

TIPS:
Study. Look at magazines and brochures with a critical eye. Make note of how the model is posing: what are they doing with their hands, limbs, head, eyes, lips? What emotion does the pose convey?

Breathe. Sometimes when we concentrate, or we're nervous, we slow or speed up our breathing dramatically. You might even find yourself holding your breath for a shot. Remain conscious of your breathing; keep it normal and relaxed.

Visualization may help you capture the emotion that you need for a shot. If the photographer is looking for a melancholic shot, for example, imagine a melancholic character in a movie and pretend to be him or her. You may find that you're better able to channel your "inner melancholy" that way.

SMILE! One of the most significant improvements you can make in ANY portrait is so simple yet can make the biggest difference between getting a "good shot" versus getting a "GREAT shot" and that is to simply smile. Of course, this is invalid if you are a model and the photographer wants a different emotion from you. However, for those wanting to generally improve your portraits a smile (especially, the "Perfect Smile") can make a big difference.

Master The "Perfect Smile" There is an art to posing with a perfect smile and most good models know how to do this naturally. It is a smile that is halfway between the biggest smile you can make and no smile at all. The lips are slightly parted and only the upper teeth are showing. The smile is considered a "gentle smile". The result should look pleasant and relaxed. If you are smiling so large that you can see your upper gums or lower teeth, then it's way too much. Generally, smiling will lift the cheeks and this can narrow the eyes. So, try to relax your eyes so that the eyes are open and the whites are showing. This may take some practice in front of a mirror to isolate the different muscle groups but it will be worth the effort. Of course, there maybe shots when no smiles or larger smiles are required but generally, whether you are a model or someone just looking to improve your portraits, mastering a perfect smile can make major improvements to your shots.
Show emotion in your eyes!

 WARNINGS

Make sure that none of your limbs are ever pointing directly at the camera. The perspective will make that limb look distorted. Think of your bones as stick figure lines; none of those lines should ever point straight towards the lens of the camera.
